— Welcome to Wikislavia's Encyclopaedia Adriatica (WikiCha)  —

part of confederation of free Slavic encyclopedias where everyone can edit an article or write a new one! Wikislavia is a free online encyclopedia. It was founded by a group of wiki-dissenters, exiled from Russian Wikipedia because of national and POV-persecutions. Wikislavia has inclusionist policies, and it publishes not only articles, but also wikisources and educational materials. The total amount of pages is more than 200 000 and it grows quickly. Wikislavia contains pages in many Slavic and Turkic languages, not only in Russian. Advertisements are allowed, but they must be done in encyclopedic style. You can advertise whatever you want absolutely for free or try to leave your trace in history! Our collaborators: Metapedia.org, including Croatian Metapedia

  • KEYWORDS: Croatia, Adriatic, islands, history, medieval, dialects, Chakavian, Kaykavian, Glagolitic, poetry

Welcome to Adriatic-Chakavian Wikislavia: a free encyclopedia and internet-library.

ABSTRACT

Adriatic Wiki-Cyclopedia and Library in Chakavian (Encyclopaedia Adriatica): This is a new Wiki-Encyclopaedia and Internet-Library in medieval Old-Croatian i.e. Chakavian, starting from November 2007. It is quite open and free for listening, and also for any further contributing and ameliorating by its bona-fide users. This includes also an open Internet-Library with the original authorized contributions in poetry, prose, scientific news and the last discoveries. The main title must be in old-Croatian dialects i.e. in Chakavian (or also Kaykavian), with added subtitles in English, and in modern Serbocroat. The relict Ikavish-Kaykavian is transitional one between Chakavian and Kaykavian, and it was official-public language in Croatia (except Damatia) of 15th - 17th century ruled by princes Zrinski and Frangipani. Now it is spoken sporadically in mosaic accross central and northwestern Croatia from Istra peninsula to Sutla and Mrežnica river, chiefly in townships Buzet, Fužine, Ogulin, Ozalj etc. During recent centuries, it was mostly restricted to private conversation, local poetry and folklore; this Wikislavia is its first public reappearance on the world Internet. The main topics here are: Chakavian (and Kaykavian) cultures, their geographic-ecological ecumena, Glagolitic script, and comparable regional topics of Adriatic ecumena. If an article is written in Chakavian (or Kaykavian) - then it can cover any topic in world. Most articles here have an English subtitle, and longer ones include also an English Abstract in its first chapter. Wikislavia's leading principles are: total openess, no any censure, the last modern data, true informative reliability (no formalistic 'neutrality'), a moral approach - but also the objective elaboration of taboo-topics (elsewhere blurred or eliminated). The false neutrality, ideological censure, officialized demagogy, destructive hypocrisy and immorality, falsified blurring and eliminations, clans domination and outvotings, and other deviations of some ' Wikipedians' here are not acceptable. We are not a pop-wiki only, but the serious database library for responsible open education; thus our texts are on 3 levels: 1. Initial new drafts free for anyone anon.; 2. Ripen featured articles for registered edits; 3. Closed review papers by experts only, with red-chess icon in top (guaranteed M.Sc. quality). Included sub-projects (professional lexicons): Wiki-flora Adriatica (Mediterranean plants); Urban Kaykavians (dialectal citizens), and Adriatic Tsakavism (islander dialect).

Included professional-scientific subprojects

Within the main coverage perimeter of this Wiki-encyclopedia (WikiCha), some special thematic groups of our superior interest so far were generally blurred and neglected in Wikipedias and elsewhere because of ignorance or for ideological presumptions. Therefore, besides a general encyclopedia in Chakavian & Kaykavian, this Wiki for professional education includes also some special thematic lexicons (lacking elsewhere), to be developed explicitly in details as parallel monographic sub-projects:

  • l. WikiFLORA ADRIATICA: biogeographic survey of Mediterranean plants diversity in Adriatic islands and Croatian coasts.
  • 2. Adriatic tsakavism (boduli): archaic non-palatal dialect of Adriatic islanders (boduli) and of some coastal citizens.
  • 3. Urban Kaykavians (purgeri): cultivated dialect of Kaykavian citizens (purgeri) in middle Croatian towns.
  • 4. For other similar sub-projects of wider Croatian and southeast-European interest, see also the parallel Croatian-Kaykavian Wikislavia (WikiKay) [1].

- Why this Adriatic Wikislavia in Chakavian ? -

  • 1. Chakavian was the dominant official language of the medieval Croatian Kingdom, and Kaykavian was the main cultivated literary language in Croatia from 16th till 19th century.
  • 2. Because accross the entire (anti-Croatian) Wikipedias, due to their false NPOV no any minute article written in Chakavian is completely lacking, and there is only scarcely noticed as exotic marginalia only.
  • 3. Because a half of Croatians privately do not speak and hardly understand the recently imposed standard (official Balkanic-Yekavian). Kaykavian now use 1/3 (31 %) of northwestern Croats, and Chakavian speak nearly all Adriatic islanders, peninsular Istrians and many other Croats in coastal townships, and inlanders of Gacka valley etc.
  • 4. Because above half citizens in Croatian capital Zagreb speak mostly Kaykavian.
  • 5. Because the false "Croatian" Wikipedia is chiefly diriged by inlander Balkanic culture, including almost nothing or rare ingnorant stubs on sea, navigation, and Mediterranean ecumenas.
  • 6. Because yet in 17th century many Croats used a cultivated language of Ikavish-Kaykavian in administration and literature accross Croatia from Adriatic (Istra, Vinodol) to north end (Drava, Medjimurje); then arbitrarily abolished by politic elimination of Zrinski & Frangipani princes (now replaced by primitive Balkanic ' Vukopis').
  • 7. Because the fundamental human right is a free access to proper cultural heritage in his mother language - that for many Croatian Kaykavians and Chakavians is not the newly imposed Yekavian 'standard' of hybrid Yugoslav Vukopis, being really a Balkanic creole pidgin.
About Wikislavia and WikiCha

The main Wikislavia started from beginning of 2007; it has yet 240.000 articles in dozen languages. This Old-Croatian variant of Adriatic-Chakavian Wikislavia started from November 21st, 2007, and so far it includes 503 articles only: this is too scarce, and therefore we expect your collaboration for improving this new wiki.
